United Methodist Women

UMW Purpose
The organized unit of the United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

On January 15 the UMW gathered in the church lounge to start the New Year off with a potluck dinner and the installation of the 2008 officers. On Tuesday March 4, the United Methodist Women hosted a gathering at Independence Village. About 20 women gathered in Harmony Hall to enjoy music and refreshments. In April the UMW delivered flowers to our church members who are home-bound, in Tendercare Health Center, and Lutheran Home of Frankenmuth. On May 6, they again met at Independence Village to hear Sharon Boyce from the United Methodist Community House in Grand Rapids. On June 3 they met at the home of Pat & Taylor Arvilla for a picnic-potluck.

In August they will host a “shower party” for the family that will be moving into a house in Hemlock that was refurbished by Habitat for Humanity Methodist volunteers.

The September 2 meeting will be held at the church and they will elect their officers for 2009 and also plan for the “big” charity auction “Fishin’ for Mission” on October 14th at the church.
